My parents still have many companians.Amila Kanchanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02420798952972198675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31803386.post-61652488750758993022009-07-02T14:43:41.235+02:002009-07-02T14:43:41.235+02:00Thanks for all your comments.

They look sweet - I'd love to have them here.

EE - Oh dear, I suspect the budgie didn't make it through the Zurich winter.

Victoria - thanks for the sunflower seeds tip. Will try it next time I fill up.

Jan - I suspect that's why it took so long here. people here don't feed birds - it's actually illegal to feed pigeons, which are classed as vermin.

Rowena - no, actually I bought the bag, filled with fat and peanuts, from Germany. Have you ever seen them here? I haven't. And when I threw away the original stuff, which hadn't been touched, I just filled it up again with supermarket peanuts and sultanas.Sue Swifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16053188212601918182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31803386.post-29783707311413981612009-07-01T17:58:12.388+02:002009-07-01T17:58:12.388+02:00Beautiful pictures!

I've had a few killed on our property which has really saddened me (and a couple live ones brought into the house--but thankfully escaped alive with my help). Wish I could do more bird feeders. I find them fascinating.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31803386.post-4534322717388916372009-06-30T20:31:24.661+02:002009-06-30T20:31:24.661+02:00It took the birds a long time to eat from our feed...It took the birds a long time to eat from our feeder as well. Our neighbours have always fed them so they had a more familiar feeding site. But we persisted and they came around in the end, much to the joy of out little ones.GardenMumhttp://www.littlegardenhelpers.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31803386.post-61126729500100481922009-06-30T13:19:23.397+02:002009-06-30T13:19:23.397+02:00Congrats from me also! I put one up on the front garden, hanging from a big bamboo and it was ignored for weeks. But once you get one or two birds, you'll find you get more quite quickly.
