Wow! I've been nominated ..

OK, well - I was going to ignore it. I mean play it cool and not make a big deal of it. But then I go into other sites and see they're all yelling VOTE FOR ME! Well, if the competition is going to be brash about it, then perhaps I should say something ...

I've been nominated for the 2009 Blotanical Awards, for the Best Container Gardening Blog. I don't know who nominated me but thank you, thank you, thank you. I honestly didn't expect it, and just making it into the top five makes me feel great, regardless of the final result. A big hug to all of you ...

But for those of you who haven't been here much before, and who aren't sure why I've been nominated - here are a couple of links to some of the posts that I've enjoyed writing the most. Decide for yourselves, and may the best container gardening blog win!

Growing Cotton on the Balcony

Tulips - The Second Year

Balcony Gardening - Or Just Exterior Decorating?

Form and Colour, Colour and Form

or, try this collection of posts with the label
Working on the Balcony

Best Container Gardening Blog is only one category though and there are a lot of others to vote for. In fact, I admit to being a bit bemused. There are 75 all together (mainly because each US state has its own) and in some categories I'd happily vote for any of the finalists. How do you choose ?

Voting is open for another couple of days (and not 285 as Stuart's delightfully idiosyncratic counter is telling us), so if you're a Blotanical member but have not yet cast your vote, do nip over to the site and have a look.

Grats, and happy voting. may the best container gardening blog win!

Who's yelling? I just want people to look into 'my' eyes before deciding who they're going to vote for :)

Before I vote for you I want to know if your cotton plants put on bolls and if they look as if they'll open before cold weather.

Or maybe I already voted for you, but I still want to know the outcome.

Daddy used to tell about planting cotton on the sixth day of June, in north Georgia, and made a good crop before frost, which was probably about October 15.

Thank you evrybody. I know several of you are also nominated, in different categories - so good luck to you all too.

Nell Jean - I'm afraid my cotton succumbed to drowning by the plant-sitter while I was on holiday. I did group them with other plants which prefer dry conditions, but there was everything sitting in saucers full of water when I got back ... Oh dear, does that lose me a vote? I promise I shall be trying again next year - and earlier this time.

congratulations! Being nominated itself calls for a mini celebration. And why be mum about it. I would have gone to the highest building in my locality and cried out aloud about the nomination - perhaps the people at Blotanical guessed that and to prevent any embarrassing scenes didn't show my nomination.
Well, jokes apart, I think you deserve to get this award and as you said - May the best Blog win.

Good luck to you as well, sincerely.

I hope it was obvious enough that my post at PATSP was kind of tongue-in-cheek. (I.e., I care whether I win, but the degree to which I care and how deserving I actually think I am are overstated for comic effect.) I'm sometimes not sure whether a post is saying what I mean it to say by the time I've revised it over and over.

Which uncertainty leads to additional revising, more times than not.

Hey all the best for the awards. And I was that "anonymous" on the Garden Geek's blog :)

I am reading your blog for about a year and love it. So, thanks for forgiving, it WAS a tough decision for me.

Sorry to be so late with my congratulations, Sue. My mind is still boggling from my own nomination. If it's any consolation, I've already registered my vote for you. Best wishes, Victoria

Hi Sue, congrats on the nomination! You deserve the accolades! I wasn't going to post about it either, but I kept seeing others posting so I thought I owed it to people who nominated me to say a word of thanks, as well! Good luck!

Hi Sue, and congrats to that nomination. I've already voted for you, but I think it's hard to pick someone to vote for in all those 75 categories. I haven't even visited all those bloggs. So many I ahven't even heard of! I've done my best voting at 24 categories. Good luck / gittan

Sue girl .. sorry it has taken me forever to get over here .. so many things are going on I'm falling over a lot ? LOL .. I just don't have the type of personality to even squeak out a vote for me .. Canadians are a bit more bashful ? LOL
But you do a stunning job with your container gardening and all of the other gorgeous photos you have taken .. so wink wink "eh !"
Joy ;-)

...and thanks to everyone who came in since I last posted. And, I think, a few others. Blogger's having one of its bad hair weeks - it's telling me i've got comments which don't show up, sending others in multiple copies, and sending yet more into cyberspace when I click on approve. Oh the joys of technology :) So if your comment hasn't showed up, that's why. But it's still equally appreciated ...
Sue

This is my first trip here, and I also can see why you were nominated! I have not got to the growing cotton post yet, but cotton is something that we grow here in Texas, too.

I got to the Buzzard post and stopped in my tracks! I have not read it yet, but I am about to run back for it! We have a LOT of buzzards here, and they are very interesting birds. Big, and ugly (or at least, not pretty) but interesting! LOL

Of course you've been nominated. You got my vote just for growing cotton :-)
